So...

Sarunori still says it's english name "Grookie" despite it being in Japanese?
...

*blinks*

Yeah I know

I believe the English name "Grookie" originated from the chimp-ish sound Sarunori made in the Japanese version...so that they don't have to voice-over Sarunori's sounds in the English dub

Why does Go's character have to be like that? Im starting to hate him.

Watchforever • 1 year ago

2 years later people still don’t like him

Like… what?

In the manner of:

1. Always taking Ash's spotlight.

2. Always catching each and every Pokemon with a single throw. I mean, he's not even following the "Battle first to catch the pokemon" rule.

3. His character growth in terms of learning the good and the bad is, how do I say it, in a never-ending cycle? For example, he just learned something new in the previous episode, but he does not apply it on the next episode.

4. This is not his fault but the production (or whosoever involved) team gave him too many plot shields just to make him stand out. However, this resulted on him being hated by so many avid fans, including me.

5. I know that each and every person has their own sensitivity level. Yet, Go's is on another dimension.

6. His "privilege" is too good to be true compared to what Ash had when he was still the Main lead (yes this is my emotion speaking).

7. He catched a Legendary Pokemon named Suicune. As far as I remember, there was one character with a legendary pokemon that made the viewers ballistic because he defeated Ash in just a few minutes at the Pokemon League. My point is, Go reminds me of this grotesque character.

However, my views about him does not absolutely affect my love for the Pokemon Series. I am willing to endure all this negative emotions about Go just to watch the beautful world of Pokemon, Ash's Journey, as well as his partner Pikachu.

Hmm, although I don’t view Goh as negatively, it’s a good thing to know the other peoples’ opinion about him.

Goh is a Gary Stu right ?

Number 1 doesn’t bother me because ash isn’t always the focus of a season .I mean that’s sorta the early seasons 1-5 most of the others seem to focus on the new characters but him being op I can understand

I have similar views...but the way I see it is:
ash is like the senior between the 2 main characters...he's been to all regions and had countless battles seen all pokemon include legendries...and I feel in this season he's finally becoming the experienced op trainer that we longed for him to be
and Goh is supposed to be his partner so he needs to be a bit an equal to ash in Go's field (which is catching pokemon)
so they are trying to condense all of the growth that ash had through all previous seasons, into Goh in this season....so no matter how you see it, it's unfair for ash...
I have a feeling this might be the last season of Ash, so they are trying to phase out...and they are giving him all the cool pokemon....Lucario, Gengar..etc...hell they might even give him mega evolution

Yeah thats alright; but still they are making Goh OP in that sense. If they just showed that Goh was actually fighting the pokemons bere throwing a baseball on them to capture; it will make sense. They dont need to animate every fight. We can see one fight and then stills of him fighting others.

As is now, Goh is breaking every Pokemon rule out there. Like I am sure that destroying a pokeball doesnot mean that the pokemon is now free of the trainer. That will lead to so many plot points and thats why it doesnt happen. The only way to take another's pokemon is to do it through a Poke Trading machine. Or if the previous owner specifically says that he doesnt want that pokemon and has left them. Yes, it can lead to dark things but they would still be realistic.

Just imagine if Ash chooses Charizard, and Jessie tells her pokemon to attack the pokeball as it is in transit. Will that mean Charizard is now without his trainer??? Will Team Rocket then throwing one of Goh's speacial Baseball be able to capture Charizard in one go???
